Walking helped me find my direction in life – By Fatiza – Casablanca, Morocco 🇲🇦

I remember a hike I went on a few years ago during a weekend that coincided with a period of major upheaval in my life, especially professionally.

I was in the middle of a career transition, filled with questions and doubts. It felt as though I had a thousand thoughts racing through my mind, and I could no longer make decisions. The more I thought about things, the more confused everything became.

During that walking weekend, I was part of a group where conversations were simple, genuine, and meaningful. Between the quiet moments on the trails and the discussions with others, something gradually began to settle inside me.

Walking seemed to slow down the noise in my head. The simple act of moving forward, one step at a time, helped me bring order back to my thoughts. Nature, movement, and human connection all played a part in easing that mental overload and helping me see things more clearly.

I did not come home with all the answers. But I came home with a certainty: I knew which direction I wanted to take.

That hike gave me the peace of mind I needed to make an important decision—one I had been postponing for a long time. Looking back, I can say it was the right decision, because it ultimately led me to the work I do today and deeply love.

Since then, I have come to believe that some answers cannot be found sitting in front of a screen or trapped inside our own thoughts. Sometimes we need to step outside, walk, breathe, meet other people, and allow movement itself to bring order where the mind has become tangled.

Sometimes, finding your path begins simply by starting to walk.
